I have always enjoyed drawing people, and my first paintings were portraits. I suppose my work is best described as figurative/ impressionistic (I love playing with color, light, shadow, and reflection), but now and then expressionism exerts its influence. I am particularly drawn to the work of Egon Schiele.
I usually work from models, whose strength and focus are inspiring. Because I do a lot of photography, I sometimes use a photo to begin a painting. I also use collage and experiment with different, sometimes non-traditional materials.
Recently, I've had the opportunity to work with horses, and they have become the subject of my new work in progress.
The dynamicduo that is Customs: Nothing To Declare, is composed of Ileana Cabrera and Rae Einerson, both students with a passion for local music and vintage design. When their forces collided in the summer of 2005, they found inventive ways to fuse vintage rockabilly style with the modern lines of the DIY street punk convention to create a mature blend of fashion, music, and travel. Rae and Illy have created a series of original designs in addition to a number of couture cases that have been tailored to the unique taste of their clientele.
