I came to the Bay Area in 1981 via Florida, Arizona, Vermont and New York and have been producing and showing artwork since 1990 when I graduated from California College of Arts and Crafts (CCAC) in Oakland, Ca. 94611. There, I earned a BFA with Distinction in Painting. Life experience includes work in publishing, the trades, and administration for both non-profits and the private sector. For 20 years, I have practiced Vipassana meditation and equate the concentrated state of mind achieved there with the focus gained while engaged in artmaking. The concept that everything is alive and sacred informs my artwork and I see extraordinary beauty and power in everyday people, places, and things. I consider artmaking a boundless source of energy and renewal and enjoy showing my work as a way to share that experience. I find no other activity as engrossing or satisfying. I strive to capture the flashes of inspiration I have about shapes, light, and color and transfer them to canvas or paper. I work, preferably from life, in watercolor, oil, and chalk pastel.
