As a former Blow Stylist, it is my honor to be able to participate in the salon in a whole new way- as an artist. The photos displayed are the result of our photo shoot for entry into the North American Hair Styling Awards. These particular photos weren’t right for the contest, but were begging to be displayed. The shoot was a collaborative effort, so I would like to give a huge “Thank You!” to –
* Jil- for making it all happen and believing in my abilities.
* Jonathan- for the makeup and being such a valuable source of info for a newbie.
* Stuart- for the beautiful photos and creative input.
* Chris- for being my right hand styling man.
* Tom- for the rope tying skills and being my second pair of eyes.
* My models Molly, Jessica, Emily, and Carmen- for allowing me to tie them up for hours.
* Katie, Laura, and Melissa- for the tireless effort to get me reasonably priced, beautiful prints (yay for Copy Central!)
* My Dad- for hand making all the frames, thanks Pops!
* And most of all, our clients and friends who participated in our fund raising efforts to make it all possible!
I also had the chance to put my quilt making skills to the test for this show. I’ve been quilting for most of my life and all of my quilts previously have been for practical use. This show gave me the chance to do work that is purely decorative, allowing me to use unconventional materials (chain, vinyl, and inkjet-printable canvas). I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
